Using Scrively From Crayon to Storybook: How to Turn Your Child’s Drawing into a Story

From Crayon to Storybook: How to Turn Your Child’s Drawing into a Story

Every child’s drawing tells a story, so why not make it an actual story? With Scrively, you can take your child’s masterpiece and use it to create a beautifully illustrated book. Their imagination leads the way, and the result is something you’ll both treasure forever.

From the Create tab, click on “Generate from drawing.”

Select the drawing from your device.

Scrively will then take a few seconds to process the drawing.

The story box will update with a title, the story's details pulled from the reference image, and the characters information.

Where applicable, click into a character’s name field to add their name. Once entered, it will automatically populate in any other fields that require the same character's name.

Note: You'll need to add your character details before you can continue creating your book.

Click on "Begin the Adventure!"

A modal will appear where you can "Upload Photo" to add your child’s image to feature them as the main character in the story.

Once the image is added you will have the option to adjust the character’s details.

Click on "Change Image" if the character's image needs to be replaced.

Give the character a name.

Choose an age for your character to help personalize the story.

Select a gender.

Click on "Next."

If you’d prefer not to upload your child’s image right now, click on "Skip." Head over to our guide here to learn more about building your story.
